We have reproduced the window sill latches used on 1966, 1967 and 1968 Airstreams. Two or three are used on each window. They are screwed to the window sill. When the handle is turned, a spring metal hook reaches out and hooks a corresponding metal clip on the bottom of the pane of glass. Turn it back again and the glass is securely latched closed.
The original mechanisms had stainless steel exteriors but interior components and the stamped hook did corrode over time. We have constructed our reproductions out of similar materials but the hook is stainless steel, too, so you will get many years of use from these replacements with no rust.
Our sill latch comes with all components: Stamped stainless steel cover and friction plate, zinc plated steel cross dowel, brass drive screw, stainless stop screw, stamped stainless steel hook that extends and retracts, zinc plated swivel handle crank and mounting screws. You will need only a Phillips screwdriver to remove your old latch and replace it with ours.
